The strong presence of theaters, galleries, and arts organizations is one of the greatest assets of the Central Market area. The City is working to further establish the area as an arts and cultural center. The City’s tools include:
- Central Market Cultural District Loan Fund, an $11 million dollar fund to cover capital costs for commercial projects.
- Providing assistance to select arts groups exploring opportunities to relocate to the area, including site selection, financial feasibility and preliminary architectural feasibility services.
- Launching various arts programs to locations throughout the neighborhood, including Art in Storefronts, Electronic Lighting Installations, the UN Plaza Art Market, and Burning Man Art Projects.
